Bengaluru: War of anonymous letters - One hailing Yediyurappa reaches BJP leadership

Bengaluru, Feb 27: As a retort to a previous anonymous letter that had expressed an opinion against Yediyurappa, those close to the chief minister have sent a letter to the BJP high command, hailing the leader's virtues and asserting the need to continue to utilize his services.

Sometime back, an anonymous letter sent in the name of BJP loyalists had said that they have high regard for Yediyurpapa, an excellent fighter who had built BJP in the state. "However, because of exhaustion which can be traced to his advancing age, he has been unable to have proper control over administrative machinery. Others are interfering with the administration on his behalf like super CMs. This will damage the party in future unless we get up and take action now," the letter had stated. The letter was forgotten after providing food for thought for a few days.

But now, another letter, this time sent by Yediyurappa's close ones, have pointed out to the party high command that there is no match for Yediyurappa in the Karnataka BJP. "It is impossible to think of state BJP without Yediyurappa. Some vested interests say Yediyurappa is aged but Yediyurappa, even at this age, is active and has been ably managing the affairs. Were these leaders not aware when handing over to Yediyurappa the responsibility of winning assembly election and making him undertake travel all over Karnataka? Why does age block him when the question of enjoying power is concerned. Were Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitely not allowed to continue despite their ill health, taking into account their contributions to the party? If Yediyurappa is removed, Lingayats will part ways with the party," the letter reportedly has stated.

In their responses, ministers, V Somanna and Kota Srinivas Poojary said that Yediyurappa is a leader whose eminence is unquestionable. They said that he is a powerhouse and the party does not have a leader who can match him. Yediyurappa said he wishes that the God will bless those who have written a character against him.
