PUMA posts revenue growth of 23 per cent

New Delhi, Feb 27 (IANS): Global sports brand PUMA has continued its dominance in the Indian market as it has posted a revenue growth of 23 per cent. Despite a slowdown that impacted several companies, PUMA recorded strong double-digit growth in the financial year ending December 2019.

Speaking on the development, Abhishek Ganguly, Managing Director, Puma India said: "We are thrilled to be the No. 1 sportswear brand for the third consecutive year. India is a very important market for PUMA globally. With the development in sports and also increasing popularity of sportswear in fashion, especially among the youth, we see huge potential for growth in future. We will continue to invest and strengthen our presence in India."

The brand's success is a result of the growing number of consumers across tier 2 and tier 3 cities in India. In addition to this, overall growth of the sportswear market and categories like women's and kids is driving increased sales for the brand in India.

PUMA had first entered India in 2006. The brand has already signed a host of sports personalities like cricketer KL Rahul, footballers Sunil Chhetri and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Padma Vibhushan awardee Mary Kom and India's track golden girl Dutee Chand.
