Mangaluru, Feb 29: Foreign delegates from Germany visited St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute on February 29.
A programme organized in their honour commenced by inaugurating the newly bought tools and equipment in the Mechanic Diesel Workshop and blessed by Fr Dr Leo D’Souza SJ, former director of the institution.
Anneliese Klinkhammer, Gisela Schmitten, Kaspar and Gertrud Wirtz and Liesel Meyer from Germany were the dignitaries.
The formal programme commenced with a prayer song. A beautiful welcome dance was presented by the Sewing Technology students. Later, Roshan D’Souza, the principal escorted the dignitaries to the dais. Fr Cyril D’mello SJ, director of the institution extended a cordial welcome to the dignitaries and honoured them with a shawl and garland.
Addressing the students, one of the guests, Anneliese Klinkhammer said, ”We have been associated with this institution for a long time. We conducted a few activities like selling books, eatables, calendars etc at our hometown and sent the proceedings to help the under-privileged students in India."
She also encouraged the students to make use of the opportunity presented by the institute and to become self-reliant.
Roshan D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. Robin Vas, junior training officer conducted the programme which concluded with the National Anthem.
