Mangalore: Light Showers Across Twin Districts

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Nov 9: Most parts of the twin-districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada experienced light showers for several hours on Sunday November 8. The showers, while dampening the spirits of the people who were planning to enjoy the week end, brought relief from the dust that has been a common phenomenon everywhere in recent weeks.

Reports from places like Subrahmanya, Kadaba, Sullia, Puttur, Uppinangady, Beltangady, Talapady, Suratkal, Mulki, Udupi, Karkala, siddapur, Brahmavar, Kundapur etc., said cloudy weather had encompassed these regions the entire day, while intermittent showers were also experienced in between. On Saturday night too there had been some rain.

The showers have brought with them, worries for the areca nut growers and the farmers, who are yet to harvest paddy crops,  as the showers can cause onset of rotting disease for areca nut trees and can cause paddy corns to fall to the ground.
