Schools, colleges in UAE closed due to coronavirus for four weeks from March 8

Abu Dhabi, Mar 4: In a breaking announcement made on Tuesday late evening, the UAE Ministry of Education has announced the early start of spring vacation for both public and private schools, colleges and universities which will begin from March 8.

According to an official statement the early holiday has been announced as a ‘preventive and precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and is in line with efforts and measures taken at the national level, aimed at reducing the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19)’.

The Ministry confirmed in its statement, that "under this decision, the spring break for school students, which was scheduled to start on March 29 until April 12, will begin next Sunday. A distance learning initiative will be launched in the last two weeks of the vacation, thus ensuring the continuity of the educational process at home, without hampering in the number of school days."

In addition to holidays to public and private schools and colleges across the country, the Ministry has also announced a distance learning initiative.

It is gathered that a sterilisation programme for educational facilities will be carried out during the four-week break.
