Mangaluru, Mar 5: The magisterial inquiry ordered into December 19 disturbances in the city culminating in firing resumed at the court hall of the assistant commissioner here on Wednesday March 4. As many as 29 police personnel including assistant commissioners of police, Kodandarama and Belliappa, adduced evidences.

Jagadish, deputy commissioner of Udupi, who has been assigned with the task of conducting this probe, presided over the session.

A total of 176 persons have been listed for recording evidence on behalf of the police department. 147 more are yet to present for the magisterial inquiry. As many as 41 persons including deputy commissioner of police, Arunagshugiri, have been served with notices to record evidences on March 9 while 41 more are listed for appearance on March 12. Police commissioner Dr P S Harsha, is slated to record his evidence on March 12.

The report of the inquiry has to be submitted to the government by March 23. Speaking to media persons on the occasion, inquiry officer Udupi deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha said that efforts would be made to submit the report after hearing 176 persons who will represent police department, within the above deadline. He said that if for reasons beyond one's control it is found not possible to submit the report, he will seek extension of time.
