Udupi, Mar 5: ‘Namma Angadi’, an annual exhibition-cum-sale will be held on March 6, 7 and 8. Namma Angadi which is held every year is one of the most awaited events and is hosted by Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC), Manipal.
The focus of the event is to help CWC (The Concerned for Working Children) to provide support and for welfare of the children under this organisation. The items sold at Namma Angadi are handcrafted by local artisans of Namma Bhoomi, Kundapura with precision and exquisite craftsmanship. The produce at the exhibition is born from the innovative ideas produced with the help of organic raw materials.
This event helps the working of Namma Bhoomi organisation. Started with a small concept, Namma Angadi is being held for the last 17 years and year by year it is getting good response. Exhibition and sale of pottery, wooden furniture, organic produce, home décor and handicraft items are available.
CWC is a non-profit organisation, founded in 1985 which is dedicated to tackling issues surrounding child labour and empowering underprivileged children. The NGO is also responsible for the conception of Namma Bhoomi, a community campus housing a residential school for underprivileged children.
As a change in current year, apparel items are also been introduced in Namma Angadi. It is a festival moment for the entire campus of Manipal Institute of Communication. Various types of pre-events like pottery workshop, movie screening and publicity about the event are held by the students. A lot of cultural activities like open mic, yakshagana show, flute concert, and interactive sessions entertain the students as well as public.
‘Namma Angadi’ will be inaugurated on Friday, February 6 at 9 am. Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor MAHE will inaugurate the event. Dr Damodar Acharya, founder CWC will be the guest of honour. Dr Padmarani, director, MIC Prof Manjula, faculty coordinator Dr Padmakumar, HOD will be present at the moment.
The organisers are looking forward for a good response from the public.
