New Delhi, Nov 10 (IANS) PepsiCo will hold its global board meeting in India this year as it sees the country as its "most important future market", according to company chairman and chief executive Indra Nooyi.
"India is going to be the most important future market for the company. That is why we wanted the board members to see and understand this market," Nooyi told reporters here Tuesday, a day before PepsiCo holds its global board meeting in Mumbai.
"I think it is going to be a historic board meeting," she said, hinting that many India-centric strategic investment decisions may be taken when the company directors meet in India's financial capital.
"Next year is going to be very important for Indo-US trade relations. I feel the leadership on both sides will further enhance business ties," Nooyi contended.
"All of us in the United States look forward to welcoming Prime Minister (Manmohan) Singh for what will most certainly be a historic and successful visit," Nooyi added.
The PepsiCo chief made her observations at a conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the US India Business Council in view of Manmohan Singh's scheduled meeting with US president Barack Obama in Washington Nov 23.
