Bantwal: Five injured after pick-up truck, auto-rickshaw collide

Bantwal, Mar 5: Five people were injured after head on collision between pick-up truck and an auto-rickshaw in Bantwal on Thursday, March 5.

The pick-up truck which was delivering soft drinks was heading towards Bantwal from B C Road. The service auto rickshaw was travelling towards B C Road. The truck collided with the auto rickshaw, then hit an electric pole and overturned.

The rickshaw driver is Perla resident Gerald Sanctis. The pick-up truck driver is identified as Gautham. Both the drivers as well as three people who were travelling in the rickshaw have sustained injuries. They were given first-aid in a private hospital in B C Road and later shifted to Mangaluru hospital for further treatment.

The pick-up truck which had overturned in middle of the road caused traffic congestion. The traffic was blocked for over an hour. The soft drink bottles had smashed and glass pieces were scattered all over the road.

The youth volunteered to clear the road and made way for traffic. Traffic SI Rajesh K V, ASI Kutti, Balakrishna visited the accident spot and have registered a complaint.
