Mangalore: Beary Academy Honours Three for Contributions to Language

Mangalore, Nov 13: Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy honoured three personalities with awards for their contributions to Beary language and culture in a programme organized at Town Hall on Friday November13.
Ibrahim Tannirbavi was honoured for his work in the field of art while U A Kashim Ullal was recognized for language and Mohammad Kulai for literature. Krishna Palemar, district-in-charge minister, honoured the three with the awards.
Speaking on the occasion, Palemar said that Beary culture is rich and the people of the community must be appreciated for felicitating guests from the goodness of their hearts. “Beary culture should be preserved with its traditional touch for the future”, he said.
Palemar observed that the Academy is a forum for writers and people involved with Beary literature and it will work as a platform to encourage newcomers to the field of literature and art.
Dr Na Mogasale, working president, Kantavara Kannada Sangha, was the chief guest. B Ahmed Haji Muhiyuddin, president, Muhiyuddin Education Trust, and Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president, district Kannada Sahitya Parishat, were also present.
M B Abdul Rahiman, chairman of the Academy, presided over the programme. Members of the Academy Rahim Ucchil and Hamza Malar conducted the programme.
Beary drama ‘Angalapu’ by Ibrahim Tannirbavi and a Beary cultural programme by Hussain Katipalla was also organized.
