Mangalore, Nov 13: Nearly a month after a complaint was registered against Ullal MLA U T Khader on charges of kidnapping a woman, she clarified that she has not been abducted by anyone.
Deepa Naik made this statement when she came to Pandeswara police station on Friday November 13.
She clarified that media reports stating that she had been kidnapped by Khader were completely false and said that she had requested his help after she was tortured in a rehabilitation centre in Bangalore.
The complaint against Khader was registered in Sampigehalli police station in Bangalore.
Deepa came to Pandeswara police station and said that she had not lost her mental balance.
She claimed that the lure of her wealth had led her sister Bina Rai and her husband Ramanath Rai to label her mentally challenged.
Deepa said that they sent her to psychiatry wards in hospitals. Their torture continued as they kept her in a rehabilitation centre at Basavanagudi, Bangalore, in 2006.
“I was tortured there and kept in a closed room. Sometimes they made me clean toilets and do hard work like supplying water”, she said adding that she was beaten up by a iron rod if she protested.
“I sought help from my father’s friend U T Fareed’s son U T Khader, who is an MLA from Ullal constituency and he helped me leave the rehabilitation centre. I lived in his friend’s house in Bangalore and then came to came to Mangalore on August 23, 2009, after I was freed from rehabilitation centre on August 20”, said Deepa.
She is a post graduate in Constitutional Law from Bangalore University Law College.
