Beltangady: Complaint filed against teacher for insulting Dalits

Beltangady, Mar 14: A case is registered against the headmistress of government school on the accusation of taking non-Dalit students for house warming ceremony, during school hours, without the permission of the education department.

The complaint is filed against Uma Rao, head mistress of Laila Padladi government higher primary school of the taluk by the father of children who were insulted by not allowing them to attend the house warming ceremony.

In the complaint filed by father of one of the Dalit students of the school, it is accused that Uma Rao had left the Dalit students in the school itself and took other students for the house warming ceremony of an individual on February 26. Though the parents of the Dalit children filed a complaint with the education department, the action was delayed.

Now the parents have approached the Beltangady police for action. After conducting preliminary investigation, the police have registered a case of insulting Dalits and disturbance to public harmony.
