Doha: Mangalore Cricket Club's Cloth Collection Drive

MCC Doha Media Release

Doha, Nov 17: Donating used clothes that are clean and in good shape is a great idea for many reasons.  Not only you help clothing those who really need them, but the feeling you get from giving is something that stays with you forever.

Keeping this in mind Mangalore Cricket Club, (MCC), Qatar had launched a 3 month- 'used clothes collection drive' among its members in Qatar.  Collection points were set up across Qatar covering all the areas within Doha City limits as well as faraway places of Dukhan, Al-khor and Messaid, as a result of which 1,200 KGs of clothes for all ages, seasons and occassions, toys, shoes, bags etc. were collected from generous members. The committee members and volunteers joined hands in sorting and packing these at the residence of MCC founder member Mr. Jerald D’mello.

The collected items have been shipped out to 7 destinations:

White Doves, Nantoor, Mangalore
Pavur community at the Karnataka-Kerala Border
Bidar community in North Karnataka
Seon Ashram in Belthangady
De Mercede Orphanage in Panir, Deralakatte
Dolours Convent Orphanage in Kanyana, Bantwal
Spandana Special School in Udupi

The executive committee of Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC),Qatar expresses its gratitude to all its members and non-members for their generosity towards this donation drive.  A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers who joined in sorting and packing the items and arranging the consignments for shipment.

The consignments have been shipped from Doha last week.
