Bangalore, Nov 18: Even before the dust kicked up by the recent boycott of the High Court proceedings by Advocates Association Bangalore and the show cause notice issued to its office bearers seeking reasons why contempt of court proceedings should not be initiated against them could settle down, senior lawyers have come up with another offensive against the High Court Chief Justice, P D Dinakaran, relating to the allegations levelled against him.

Several senior advocates including some former advocate generals have decided not to plead cases being heard by the Chief Justice and not to accept cases that will come up for hearing before him.

Former advocate generals, B V Acharya and R N Narasimhamurty, senior advocates, M S Padmarajaiah, Prameela Nesargi, Padubidri Raghavendra Rao, Subrahmanya Jois, Shivappa, Yoganarasimha, K Kasturi, Nanjunda Reddy and several others have arrived at this decision.

Undaunted by the criticisms, the Chief Justice continues to conduct court proceedings on a daily basis.

Advocates Association Bangalore has expressed its surprise at the statements of union minister, Veerappa Moily, and retired judge, Justice Rama Jois, criticizing the protest organized by the Association against the participation of the Chief Justice in court proceedings.

Through a press statement, Association president, K N Putte Gowda, and other office bearers have said, “If the advocates become mute spectators to the erosion of the judiciary’s dignity in the state, their action tantamount to supporting corruption in judiciary.”
