Mangalore, Nov 20: Director (Human Resources) of Bangalore-based IT major, Infosys Technologies, T V Mohandas Pai, said that the only way to realize the dream of an affluent India our ancestors had nursed, is to educate every child in the country. He was speaking after inaugurating Canara School (CBSE syllabus), set up by Canara High School Association in the city, on Thursday November 19.

“Our elders, who fought for our independence and made sacrifices for the country, had dreamt of India that is liberated, peaceful and affluent. However, even after 62 years of getting our independence, we continue to see poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, exploitation, atrocities, violence etc., for which a solution has not been found. Even now, a considerable part of the child population continues to be deprived of education. Many even struggle to get their food,” he said, and felt that progress of the country will be possible, only when everyone is able to share the fruits of development of the country.

He hailed Ammembal Subbarao Pai as a great statesman and visionary, who set up Canara educational institutions, which in turn, has shown a way of life to thousands of people and has enabled even common people to pursue their dreams of education.

Nitte University chancellor, N Vinay Hegde, felt that the need of the day is to shape people into complete personalities, which will create a society that is not only rich but also refined. He appreciated the GSB community for its contributions to the financial, religious and social sectors of the coastal districts.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel also paid rich tributes to Subbarao Pai for the education revolution he set forth by founding the Canara group of educational institutions. Philanthropist and president of Century Group, Bangalore, Dr P Dayanand Pai, also felt that the responsibility of ensuring that no child remains uneducated, lies on every one of us.

MLA N Yogish Bhat and city mayor, Shankar Bhat, also hailed Canara group of educational institutions for their yeoman services. P Satish Pai of  Century Group participated as the chief guest.

Canara High School Association president, Dr U S Mohandas Nayak, welcomed. Secretary, M Annappa Pai, proposed vote of thanks. M Ranganath Bhat presented the programme.
