Mangaluru: 44-year-old civil engineer meets watery grave near Maravoor dam

Mangaluru, Mar 17: A 44-year-old man who had gone for a swim with his friends, drowned in a pond near Maravoor Dam on Tuesday, March 17.

Prashanth Shetty, a resident of Kavoor Bolpugudde, worked as a civil engineer. On Tuesday, Shetty had visited Mangala swimming pool for a swim. However, the pool was closed as a precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus.

Shetty then decided to go for a swim at a pond near Maravoor dam with his friends from the neighbourhood. He died due to drowning.

Shetty is survived by his mother, wife and two daughters. He is the member of Bokkapatna Ayappa Swami Temple’s Ayappa Swami Seva Samiti. A case has been registered at Bajpe police station.
