Dubai, Nov 22: Parishioners of the Katapady residing in the UAE gathered at Marhaba Hall, Hotel Dubai Grand here to celebrate their four years of togetherness, camaradarie and unity at a programme, 'Katapady Utsav - 2009' on Friday November 20. The event organized by ‘Katapady Konkans' was a superb example of their talent, enthusiasm and commitment.
The entire programme was a result of fusion of great talents and tireless efforts. ’Katpady Konkans’ have proved that they are one of the most talented team around, plus they have achieved great success in bringing Katpadians under one umbrella as their unity and solidarity was clearly evident in this successful programme.
The celebrations began with a hit Konkani Number “Ye Ye Chedva” from Lloy Ullas D’Souza then Star of Katapady, multi-talented Vincent Pinto rocked with his Hindi number “Pal Pal Dil Ke Pas”. President of “Katapady Konkans” Mr Agnel D’Silva welcomed the gathering with his customary style. The ladies unit of Katapadi Konkans led by Jacinta D'Silva with other members Sheetal Almeida, Anita D'Souza, Sweeny Rodrigues, Shalet Pinto and Celina welcomed the gathering with welcome and prayer song.
Katapady Konkans members rendered some of the best evergreen numbers. Lloy Ullas has rendred his beautiful voice to hit number “Juliana”, Jecintha D’Silva and Linford Quadros sung the duet songs “Pal Pal “ and “Ye Ye Kathrina”. Konkani’s evergreen number sung by Vincent Pinto bought couples on stage to dance.
“Katapady Konkans” secretary Mr Agnel Rodrigues presented the report of Katapady Konkans activities for the past year. In a small stage programme Hilary Pinto, chief executive officer of Al Faris Equipment Rentals, mega sponsor of the programme was felicitated by Katapady Konkans along with other sponsors and benefactors.
Kids of Katapady have performed some scintillating dances with foot-tapping numbers. Abbrial Pereira, Jenessa D'Silva, Anluan Rodrigues, Clivisha Fernandes and Joylene Lewis performed to Twist Twist , Cascia Rodrigues for Dance pe Chance Marle, Lisha for Dil bole hadippa and Aviola Pereira and Sweeny performed to the number Hip Hop. These dances were full of energy and provided complete entertainment to the crowd. Konkan Khel (Yakshaghana) performed by Canute Suaris, Richard Rodrigues and Steven D’Souza was a super hit due to its unique style of presentation.
Skits led by Arun Montheiro with the support of Canute Soares, Walter Montheiro, Molly D’Souza were unique. In continuing the tradition of yesteryears this year too various skits which were never seen before were enacted. In total the entire event was clubbed with great fun and entertainment stuff. Besides above will DJ Jostine has kept audience busy on dance floor with his wonderful collection of foot taping numbers.
Various fund raising activities were conducted by members. Roopus D’Souza and Steven Saores conducted housie-housie and Agnel Rodrigues conducted American Auction. Cock Sodthi caught everybody’s attention.
Nanu Marol Thottam a familiar figure in Konkani literarure compered beautifully and guided the entire event to a great success with some wonderful spot prizes. Anitha D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
The programme that began at 11.45 am lasted till 6.30 pm with non-stop Baila.
