Media Release

Dubai, Nov 23 : With weekdays filled with busy work schedules and rushing from one activity to another, we eagerly look forward to Fridays to relax, refuel and catch up with family and friends. Bellevision   UAE under the leadership of President Valerian Alva and the executive committee organized a fun-filled picnic on 20th November 2009 at Zabeel Park, Dubai. This Friday was an occasion to be together, eat together and have a lot of fun!

The Picnic commenced at noon time with a prayer led by Ashok. The dynamic president Valerian Alva welcomed the gathering enthusiastically creating a sense of energy. Around 350 excited picnic goers from Belle and neighboring parishioners residing in UAE and of all ages gathered at this gorgeous lush green park. The weather was absolutely favoring the day to enjoy the picnic. BV members voluntarily prepared a very traditional home made “Sajjige Bajil” which was relished by all.

There was a roller coaster of events that unfolded thereafter. Four teams named Blue Waters, Green Gardens, Pink Panthers and Black Commandos were formed to add more fun and competition. The groups played an assortment of fun-filled games all throughout the day that varied from getting into sporty action and a brain teasing Konkani quiz. The warm-up game, Sack race, passing rings, innovative games like Chaddi relay, Kamblla and 3 legged races gave an opportunity for all to spring into action and stretch a leg. The kids also enjoyed a lucky chocolate game and the lemon on spoon race conducted especially for them. Ivan Menezes & Godwin anchored the program aptly with frequent sparks of humor that created waves of laughter in the crowd.  Ronald Sabi entertained all hilariously with his amazing humor.

Lunch consisted of traditional and authentic Mangalorean Cuisine prepared by Canara Restaurant, Karama. The appetizing dishes included ‘Channa Sukkha’, ‘Mogein, dudhi and brinjal curry (puli koddel)’, ‘Mota rice, pickle, and the crunchy, irresistible and finger licking ‘Canara Fried Chicken’ which was definitely a special treat for us all.

Live music, lead by James, played some popular konkani and hindi numbers during the lunch.  Diany, Sharon, Sandeep, Roshan, Godwin, Stephen and Loreen entertained the audience with their beautiful singing.

After the groups restored their energy from the wonderful lunch, a balloon structure game was played. All teams had to use innovation and creativity to design a structure from the 100 balloons distributed to each team. Then there was a Time-Out called for Tea time with everyone enjoying a piping cup of hot and refreshing tea. A game of housie was conducted with winners taking home awesome prizes. In the evening, the highlight of the outing “tug of war” took place. The spirit of the picnic was recharged and energy doubled when the ‘Tug of War” was played.

Prizes were distributed to all the groups and everyone was a winner. Kids took home a special gift hamper of goodies from Tiffany that was sponsored by Mrs. Rose Mary. The generous sponsors of this event were Pepsi Abudhabi – water and soft drinks, Karama Hotel – Dubai for gift hampers, Mr. Ronald Aranha- for gifts, Ducab – Mr Alfred Britto for gift items and BV committee members for gift items.
