Beltangady: Illegal black stone quarry raided - One arrested, two flee

Beltangady, Mar 21: Tahsildar of the taluk Ganmapati Shastri, on Friday, March 19, received information that a black stone quarry was operational at Odikar in Navoor village in the taluk illegally. When he visited the spot, those working in the quarry took to their heels. On referring to records, he found that the land located in survey No. 45/12 belongs to Xavier Paloli.

During the visit, guillotine sticks, wire, 11 live ammunitions, 15 guillotine sticks packed in bags etc were found. A tractor and two backhoes used for the purpose as well as the above things were taken into possession after conducting inquest in the presence of witnesses.


Prathik Kotian

The total value of things so confiscated may be around Rs 25 lac. Prathik Kotian, son of Ramesh Bangera from Laila village, was arrested.  Two unidentified persons, who were involved with quarry work, fled during the raid.

A case in this respect was registered in the town police station here on the basis of complaint made by the tahsildar. Investigation is on.
