Corporate donations pour in for Telangana CM Relief Fund


Hyderabad, Mar 26 (IANS): Corporate donations are pouring in for Telangana Chief Minister's Relief Fund to combat Covid-19.

Leading corporates not only came forward to donate money and material like tablets and masks, but also lauded the steps being taken by the state government in checking the spread of Coronavirus. They promised all the support to the government in these efforts.

Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Company Limited (MEIL) on Thursday announced a donation of Rs 5 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF).

MEIL MD P.V. Krishna Reddy called on Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and handed over the cheque.

Biotechnology company Shantha Biotechnics' promoter, K. E. Varaprasad Reddy, and presented to CM a cheque of Rs 1,00,00,116 towards the CM Relief Fund.

KNR Constructions chief K. Narasimha Reddy also called on the Chief Minister and gave Rs 1 crore cheque for CMRF on behalf of the company.

Laurus Labs CEO Dr Satyanarayana, Executive Director Chandrakanth Chereddy met the CM and announced that their company will give one lakh hydroxychloroquine tablets.

This anti-malarial drug has been recommended by Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) as a preventive medicine for those who face high risk of coronavirus infection.

They also handed over a cheque of Rs 50 lakh.

KCR, as the Chief Minister is popularly known, thanked the donors for not only coming forward to contribute generously but also lauding the government's initiatives to check the spread of the virus.

The contributions made by the donors will support the programmes taken by the government and also inspire the official machinery, the CM said.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad-based Meenakshi Group came forward to give Rs one crore to the CMRF. Meenakshi Group Chairman K.S. Rao and MD C. Sivaji handed over the cheque to Cabinet Minister K.T. Rama Rao.

GPK Exports and Imports owners Phani Kumar and Karnala Sailaja Reddy have donated 4,000 N95 masks for the use of Telangana state government doctors.

Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) donated Rs one Crore to the CM's Relief Fund. CREDAI representatives handed over the cheque to Minister K.T. Rama Rao.
