Mangalore: Kankanady Garody Celebrations Begin with ‘Hore Kanike’

Mangalore, Nov 30: The religious ceremonies connected with the consecration of the idols at the new sanctum sanctorum of the family deities at the famous Brahma Baidarkala Garody in Kankady, officially began on Sunday November 29, with the offerings of ‘Hasiru Hore Kanike’.

A grand procession accompanying the ‘Hasiru Hore Kanike (Offerings by way of fruits, vegetables, foodgrains etc.,)’ loaded in over 50 vehicles, which started from Kudroli Lord Gokarnanatha Temple, proceeded to the Garody through Mannagudda, Lady Hill, Ballal Bagh, Kodialbail, Bunts Hostel, Jyoti Circle and Bendorewell. The procession was received at the Garody by the Temple Committee president, K Chittaranjan, and thousands of devotees.

After the arrival of ‘Hasiru Hore Kanike’, Vedic rituals were conducted during the night by the scholars. On this occasion, the temple premises, renovated at a cost of Rs 1.20 crore, was handed over to the Temple Committee. Several oblations were conducted in the specially erected pandal.
































On Monday November 30, ‘Maha Sudarshana Yaaga’ will be performed at 6 pm, followed by ‘Durga Namaskara’ and ‘Mantapa Samkara’ rituals. The religious meeting being organized on the occasion, will be attended by MLA, N Yogish Bhat, city mayor, Shankar Bhat, Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner,V Ponnuraj and some other dignitaries. A number of dance performances and a variety entertainment programme by ‘Ranga Sudarshana’ team from Sasihithlu are slated to be staged at the venue from 5.30 pm onwards.

    Kankanady Brahma Baidarlala Garody is very close to Pumpwell circle, and majority of billawa community residing this area,because of shri Veerendra Hegde influence pumpwell circle name put into MAHAVEER CIRCLE. all billawas united and change pumpwell circle name into KOTI CHENNAYYA CIRCLE.
