Moodbidri, Nov 30: Marriages are made in heaven, but celebrated on earth, so goes an adage. True to this, a bridegroom with artificial hands tied a nuptial knot to a normal woman here recently.
Ganesh, the proprietor of G K Enterprises, a leading electrical and floral enterprise wedded Latha, his employee at Ponnechari Temple hall here. He was earlier working in a small enterprise and lost both his hands in an electrical tragedy on April 29, 2001. He survived the tragedy and had undergone treatment for almost four and a half years. When he returned to his work, he was mercilessly turned away by his former employer. After suffering from self pity for a while, Ganesh soon regained his confidence and determioned to succeed in his life. Soon he opened a petty electrical shop in a corner street here that has now become a successful enterprise with nearly 20 staff working for him.
It is here that the lady luck smiled at him and his employee, Latha came forward to marry him bowled over by his determination to do something in life despite hurdles. The bridegroom Ganesh is a true winner in the sense that he has overcome his physical disability to earn living and also employed many at his business enterprise.
‘I am nothing, but what I am today is because of Almighty and my family. My staff is an asset and great support to my business. Meanwhile, my bride Latha is the light, who will lead me through marital-bliss,” said the beaming bridegroom Ganesh.
‘Although the entire family joined with my decision to marry Ganesh, my father is hesistant. But I now he will come around and soon realize the logic behind me marrying Ganesh,’ said bride Latha.
The relatives of newly-wedded couple, media persons and a large gathering of their well wishers were present to bless both Ganesh and Latha on the occasion. Incidentally, it I an inter-caste wedding as Ganesh belongs to Gowda Saraswat Brahmin community and Latha belongs to Devadiga community. The union proves that humanity still reigns supreme.
