Seventeen students received diplomas from Fr Joseph Rodrigues, rector, St Aloysius Institutions.

The day-long event had a symposium on the ‘Three Facets of Konkani Literature’ with the participation of Vally Vagga of Mysore on short stories, Dolphy F Lobo of Mangalore on dramas, and H M Pernal on poetry.

The symposium was moderated by Edwin JF D’Souza, executive director, Konkani Institute and also the editor of ‘Amar Konkani’.

At the convocation, Konkani activist Paul Moras spoke of the history of Konkani and Prof Alban Castelino, Konkani stalwart, scholar, and the first executive director of the institute, spoke on the growth of the Konkani Institute.

Fr Swebert D’Silva welcomed students and guests and said that work is on to compile a thesaurus of Konkani words from all the Konkani-speaking areas and an inter-district Konkani vocabulary workshop was conducted by the institute in August this year.

Fr Rodrigues gave the convocation address in chaste Konkani and stated that the college is fully committed to the cause of Konkani.

Yes! Mr. Ashwin, I 100% agree that there is scarcity of people who really love and work for Konkani. But there is Surplus who do business in the name of Konkakni. Please note that Mother Theresa never shed tears and said that she burnt her fingers working for the downtrodden. Why Mr. Dolphy F Lobo is shedding tears? Don’t forget that even Austin D’Souza run 3 Periodicals, that too when there were no Computers and Offset. Certainly, I don't object if Mr. Dolphy collects money in the name of Konkani. But, why brand it as SEVA? Let him agree that he is doing Konkani Business. I salute his spirit if he says so.

No, I do not understand, why, William, Sundeep & Donald, are making false allegations on the real konani workers like Dolphy Cascia. We find the scarcity of people who love konkani & work for konkani. Are you, Mr William, Sundeep & Donald, ready to work for konkani? If he was collecting money, what's the wrong in that? Everybody needs money to do good works also. Mother Theresa was also collecting charity for her mission. One should not forget thaty Dolphy Cascia run 3 periodicals continuosly which is not an easy task. Jai Ho Dolphy Cascia!! Kudos to your konkani work!!!

Yes, both these comments are 100% true. Now a days, its really disgusting and embarrassing the situation created in the Konkany world by so called 'Konkany Fighters'. They do business and shed false tears in front of Rich People, Businessmen, Donors who donate plenty of money just believing these 'Konkany Businessmen' will work for konkany. But in real, these pretenders not only cheat the sentiments of Donors, but have cheated entire community and human values. I hope henceforth people will aware of these crocodile konkany activists. Long live Konkany. Thanks to Daijiworld for publishing sincere people's feelings.

I fully agree the views of William Mendonca. Now the Konkani has become a business product. There were, in the past, the real konkani workers, especially in literary field, like Jo.Sa. Alavares, Chafra. Now we can see a huge transformation in the konkani world. But still our so called 24x7 konkani workers, great konkani writers (some are exception) are still shedding tears & selling konkani. Very pathetic! But i wonder, when somebody comments, with a real concern, there are some `thinkers' who has responsbility to guide the right way of thinking, are misguidinig & defending the konkani jackals. Jai Ho Konkani businessmen!!

Congratulations to St Aloysius Konkany Institute and the students who received Konkany Diploma. The symposium was a unique concept. Kudos to Edwin J F D'Souza. The subject slected for the symposium “Me and My Literary Works” was fantastic. But the First two speakers mere presented their Biodata and not spoke about real ‘Me’ and why they are writing. While presenting papers in this kind of symposiums the speakers should come prepared. It was apparent from Mr. Dolpy F Lobo's presentation that he took the concept too lightly and made some pun. He used this platform again to shed his age old crocadile konkani tears saying he and his daughter are still paying the debts incurred running Konkani papers. But the hard fact remains that he sold Mithr and Jhelo for a hefty sum and made business out of Konkani. There are Editors like Richi Pereira who burnt fingers but never shed crocodile Konkani tears and make business out of Konkani.
