Mangalore: Vishwa Vaidya Ayurvedashram Launches ‘Kalari Chikithsa’ on First Anniversary

Mangalore, Dec 4: Vishwa Vaidya Ayurvedashram, located at Vamanjoor, in the city, will introduce ‘Kalari Chikithsa’, a treatment method from Kerala, which is made available for the first time in Karnataka, to mark its first anniversary, on Saturday December 5.
‘Kalari’ is training in Marma – the art of understanding and activating vital energy points in the body. The Marmas are used for connecting the body’s energy flows and replenishing its resources. Kalari is also called Padaaghatha – massaging the body by using the feet. This causes compactness of body.
Vishwa Vaidya Ayurvedashram came into existence at Vamanjoor, here in 2008, duly driven with the objective of providing authentic Ayurvedic treatment. It was Dr Srilatha Shetty’s dream to make the Sanathana system of Ayurveda available in the coastal city of Karnataka, as per the true Indian traditional practices. her dream has come true, and the Ayurvedashram is celebrating the completion of its first successful year in the service to the society.
Vishwa Vaidya Ayurvedashram has achieved many milestones in its first year of existence, and it has several success stories to tell. To name a few – weight reduction achieved with along with achieving control over BP and diabetes levels, totally paralyzed patient was cured, many infertility cases and arthritis cases, and several cases that were recommended for surgery, were treated with Ayurvedic treatment successfully.
Kalari is a combination of physical, mental and spiritual training with holistic healing. ‘Kalari Chikithsa’ is given in the Gurukal, where the teacher is a master in Marma. As per the scriptures, this healing system is handed down by Parashurama, who developed and groomed about 21 disciples to save the land – Bhoomi, from the attack of Samudra.
It is also an affective system of treatment in Ayurveda for orthopedic disorders and neuromuscular problems like back pain, spondylitis etc. Also, general injuries, arthritis, paraplegia from spinal injuries, sports injuries, sinusitis, general weakness, etc. can be managed with this method of treatment. It is ery useful for the people with sedentary lifestyle, IT professionals and for all those who wish to keep themselves fit. In ancient days, Kalari was practiced in the battleground, to rejuvenate and keep the soldiers fit. In today’s situation it is useful for the police personnel, armed forces and sports persons also.
