Dubai, Dec 9: One of Dubai’s contemporary dynamic women leaders Jennifer Agnes Mascarenhas has been chosen to lead the foremost Konkani community organization St Mary’s Konkani Community (SMKC), for the year 2010-2011.
She has taken over the responsibility from Bonifas Carlo who just completed his term successfully.

She is the first ever woman at the helm of SMKC affairs. SMKC serves the downtrodden and especially educates students from poor families in engineering, medicine, nursing and other fields.
Jennifer, her husband Noel Mascarenhas, Fr Cyprian D’Souza, and SMKC family team had founded SMKC Dubai in 2001 and have so far reached out to many needy and poor people.
Jennifer has nominated Vincent Pereira, founder president of ‘Ferrarites Dubai’, as the vice-co-ordinator in the sub committee meeting. Vincent is also the current President of Ferrar Association.

Bhaskar G and Arun D’Souza were later nominated by the sub committee as the secretary and the treasurer of the Association.
Soon after taking charge, Jennifer brought a change in the working of the group. She reduced the number of core group members and wanted all the SMKC Dubai members to play an important role in deciding all important issues in the sub committee group itself.
In the past nine years, SMKC has contributed over Rs 1.25 crore to the various needs of the community and in educating children.
Jennifer has served as vice-co-ordinator and in various other capacities within the association over the past nine years.
“Continuing the good work according to the goals of the organization is my first priority”, said Jennifer speaking to Daijiworld soon after taking up the responsibility.
Jennifer is confident that with the support and blessing of Fr Freddy D’Souza , spiritual director of SMKC, and support of all the office-bearers and members she will take the association to the next level.
“We have several plans to reach out to more needy people in the UAE as well as back home. We will disclose our agenda in the coming days”, says Jennifer in her usual smiling and confident manner.
She made a special mention of her husband Noel who has inspired her to reach this level.
Noel was also at the helm of SMKC for three consecutive terms and revolutionized the association by establishing SMKC prominently among all Konkani community associations across the globe.
