Mangalore: Minister Dr Acharya Inaugurates 24th Indian Engineering Congress

Mangalore, Dec 11: The 24th Engineering Congress being held at National Institute of Technology (NITK) Suratkal, concurrently with the 90th annual general body meeting of the Institution of Engineers (India), was inaugurated by the state home minister, Dr V S Acharya, at the Silver Jubilee Auditorium in NITK campus in Suratkal on Friday December 11.
The Engineering Congress is being driven with the theme, ‘National Growth and Security – Technological Challenges’, in view of the opportunities and challenges the post-liberalization era has posed for the country.
Past president of the Institution of Engineers (India), Rear Admiral K O Thakare, newly elected president, Madan Lal, and other dignitaries were present on the dais. The programme is being organized under the aegis of the local chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India) with support from NITK Suratkal.
A total of eight papers are scheduled to be presented today afternoon, including one on the Study of slow dense granular flow by Riteja Dutta and Apoorva Bajaj, Element transfer behaviour of hard-faced layer made by paste technology with 6013 SMAW electrode, by Manoj Kumar Et Al and others.
The programme is set to conclude on December 13.
