Bengaluru, Apr 11: "I have not recommended for the sale of liquor with the government. Sale of liquor is not more important than the life of people. So my friends, who are hell bent on drinking alcoholic drinks, should not pester," said H Nagesh, minister for excise, state of Karnataka, thereby hinting that the liquor shops might not open even after April 14.
Liquor shops throughout the country are closed in the wake of the lock down. Already seven people of Karnataka have committed suicide due to non-availability of liquor. Others, who are addicted to alcoholic drinks are waiting eagerly for wine shops to open after April 14.

Speaking on the subject Excise minister H Nagesh said, "My friends, who consume alcoholic drinks, have to support the lockdown orders of the state and central governments. Lockdown has to continue without any doubt. The number of infected persons due to Covid-19 virus is increasing day by day in the state. So I have not recommended to the government to open the wine shops after April 14.
"It is better for alcohol addicts to get counselling because there is no guarantee that the wine shops will open even after the end of the lockdown period. Only after the lock down period gets over, I will discuss this matter with chief minister B S Yediyurappa."
