Hyderabad will be capital of Telangana State: TRS Chief

Hyderabad, Dec 12 (IANS) Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao Saturday asserted that Hyderabad would be the capital of the proposed Telangana state, and rejected suggestions of making it a shared capital with Andhra Pradesh.

Rao, whose 11-day hunger strike forced the central government to agree to the demand for a Telangana state, told NDTV news channel that Hyderabad cannot be made a joint capital on the lines of Chandigarh.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, said: "Hyderabad can't be compared with Chandigarh. It is not a new bifurcation. Telangana state existed earlier with Hyderabad as capital while Andhra state had Kurnool as its capital."

KCR also pointed out that Hyderabad is geographically located in Telangana. "How can they (Andhra) claim Hyderabad. Does it make any sense?" he asked.

The TRS chief also assured people of other regions of Andhra Pradesh settled in Hyderabad that they could continue to live here in peace after the formation of the new state.

He also said there was no question of going back on a separate Telangana state, and added that the protests in other regions against it were stage managed and sponsored by vested interests who had invested money and acquired lands illegally in Hyderabad.

KCR said passing a resolution in the state assembly was not necessary to carve out Telangana. He said he had full faith in United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that they would take the necessary measures for formation of the state.

"I have lot of faith in Sonia Gandhi. And Manmohan Singhji, who is at the helm of affairs today, is a fairly good person. Having made an announcement on behalf of the Government of India, it is up to them to solve the problem," Rao told the channel.

Rao said he had been invited to New Delhi for talks.

"They have invited me to Delhi for talks soon after my recovery. I said that I can come only after a week or 10 days. I am not even able to come out of my residence. I with difficulty went to the balcony and waved to the people," Rao said.

"Hyderabad is such a place ... such a good society. It allows everybody, absorbs everybody," said Rao.

"In Hyderabad, not just Andhras, but Maharashtrians, Kannadigas and Kayasths from north India live."

He accused the Andhra Pradesh people of "exploiting" the employment opportunities of Telangana region.

"Ultimately our people were pushed to go to the Gulf countries. The agony of Telangana is that 35,000 Telanganas are in jails in Gulf countries," Rao said.

"Why should Telangana suffer. And Hyderabad city?" he asked.

"We used to have an airport much before the formation of AP (Andhra Pradesh). Today's all railway stations have been constructed by the Nizam. All the hospitals, educational institutions have been built by the Nizam," Rao said.

A scene on yesterdays front Page - Two gentlemen smashing the windscreen of a Passenger Bus. What a shame. These are two highly grown thick brained above 40 youth. Its a shame that we throw stones at our own house and then ask "who threw stones at our house"?? Dear jobless people, please grow up. Let us not demonstrate our dissatisfaction/disagreement by breaking our own house. This is the reason, Kasab could get an entry into our Financial capital. You know what happened after that.... Lets preserve our wealth, lets become responsible, lets save ourselves and our beloved.

It's really unfortunate that the politician who started this recent row of agitations in Andhra is being treated as a hero. The politician's hunger strike demanding the statehood for the region and the violence thereafter has resulted in loss of valuable public as well as private properties apart from the human lives. Can our system bring this man to justice holding him accountable for all this? It is really pity that our people still can't understand this kind of power hungry politicians.

Mr KCR says that 35,000 telangans are in jail in the Gulf Countries. Now the question is how will the creation of seperate Telangana state solve this issue? If Mr KCR had worked to bring those people out their sufferings I think would have been more remarkable. I donot understand why these leaders are so bent in dividing and destroying the country. "Oh God listen to our prayers save our Country from destruction and create unity among all of us " should be our prayers at this moment.

Its absolutely BRAINLESS to keep going on dividing the states like this. Incompetent fools succumbing to these senseless demands. But on the other hand, Making DK as a sole State wouldn't be a bad idea. Bangalore has only destroyed and brought DK down every other time. But we dont need to go down the lines of Tamil Nadu. But right now we need to fix these damned politicians.

We want educated leaders and not these "mannina maga" characters. Making a state is easy. But think of how you would survive as a state? Where does your revenue come from? What will you in case of disasters? So many many documents need to be set up and d and changed. It'll be an absolute chaotic mess! Which we are more than capable of messing up even more!

Unfortunately people and politicians think that the individual states are their father's property. Why don't they devide their own property instead of dividing the states. I wonder why Centre is succumbing to the farce fast of TRS chief, it would have been better for him to die for the good cause of united AP insted of splitting. All in the name of power, none of the leaders are interested in uplift of the poor, rural education, primary rural healthcare etc. AP is by far the poorest and most illiterate in Southern India. TRS chief K C Rao and your party do something for the betterment of the common people instead of this drama.
