Mangaluru: NSS unit of St Agnes College organizes workshop against COVID-19

Mangaluru, Apr 13: An online workshop on the topic 'Fight against COVID-19' was organized by the NSS unit of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru on Monday, April 13. The workshop was organized online through the Zoom meeting app.

The resource person for the workshop was Dr Shivakumar T MD Ayur specialist, Ayush medical officer, Chitradurga. The president of the workshop was Sr Dr Jeswina AC principal, St Agnes College. The program was attended by approximately 90 NSS volunteers. The workshop began at 9 am during which Dr Shivakumar T enlightened the audience with relevant information related to COVID-19.

He spoke on issues such as suspected sources of the virus, history or emergence of the disease, symptoms of the disease, preventive measures to be taken both to avoid getting infected as well as to avoid the spread of the virus, guidelines to follow to improve immunity, the significance of yoga or physical exercises, meditation, sanitation, cleanliness of self and one’s surroundings, the role of early detection, social distancing, self-isolation, quarantine period, use of masks, disinfection including frequent proper handwashing and self-discipline in following the norms set up by the governing bodies to control the disease. At the end of the workshop, Dr Shivakumar clarified the doubts and also answered the queries put forward by the NSS volunteers.

On behalf of the organizers and NSS volunteers, Derik Dias NSS officer, St Agnes College, Mangaluru proposed the vote of thanks. The workshop ended at 10 am.
