General insurers close FY20 with 11% growth, March business down


Chennai, Apr 14 (IANS): Despite the dip of Rs 1,888 crore in business last month over corresponding period of the previous year, the Indian non-life insurers closed last fiscal with an overall growth in premiums of 11.67 per cent, sectoral regulator IRDAi said.

As per the business flash figures released by Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), the non-life insurers closed last fiscal with a total premium of Rs 189,215.54 crore up from Rs 169,448.44 crore logged during 2018-19.

However, the industry earned a premium of Rs 15,784.66 crore last month down from Rs 17,672.89 crore registered during March 2019.
