‘Mangalore Express’ Train to be Renamed as 'Kannur Express'

‘Mangalore Express’ Train to be Renamed as 'Kannur Express'

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Dec 14:  The Yeshwwantpur-Mangalore Express Train No. 6517/6518 will start running up to Kannur from today. The sources said that the train would be renamed ‘Kannur Express’ in place of the earlier ‘Mangalore Express’.

As a result, the available seats in the train and bookings thereon, which are already under pressure, will face further crunch. The train is set to depart from Kannur at 4.40 pm to reach the City Central station at 7.15 pm, and depart for Bangalore at 7.45 pm. On its return journey, the train will reach here at 8.40 am and leave for Kannur at 9.10 am and reach its destination at 11.45 am.

Several protests against this extension, organized by various railway passengers associations, general public and Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and also the efforts made by some of the political leaders in direction, have fallen flat.  They had been demanding for the extension of the train to Karwar instead of Kannur.

Its time we learn about hunger strike and get attention rather than depending on politicians. Its a disgrace to Mangloreans that the facility is being snatched instead of providing additional benefit. Muniyappa said the interests of the number of seats would be considered before making a decision. He is not aggressive, instead made us fools.

Note that nearly 30% of the secretarial posts in Central Govt. are hold by Keralites. They are influencing all the decisions Nation matters.Unfortunately the number of IAS cadres from our state are negligible/insignificants.More over our Ministers in Delhi and M.Ps from the state are more interested in their own welfare than the State. If they are really thinking about the state, let them, first, make all efforts to make Mangalore a part of South Western Railway

We have such limited railway network in karnataka, Karwar-bangalore is barely connected, yet the railway officials have the courage and morale to do injustice to Mangaloreans. Vajpayee had rightly said to Modi "While in power/administration, one must ensure that Rajadharma is practiced". Railway officials - you all are may be from Kerala (you are good in roping in your own members), but while in service, give justice to all. You are drawing national salary, not from your regional earning. Violent protests, naxalites etc are born out situations such as these.

All kinds of reasoning, protests and requests are falling into deaf ears, and people's natural rights are stamped upon. As someone said, for years we worked, and in months it is passed on. From any point of view and statistically, there seems no need to extend the train to Kannur, while North Canara could have been a wonderful commercial and political decision. Railway officials, you have no shame at all, such blatant injustice and favouritism, god save India. On our MPs, less said the better, let us save our energies.

Shame, Shame, Shame, where is our MP, I think busy in attending irrelevant, functions, very soon, Mangaluru, might be changed to MANGALAPURAM, enter mangalore airport, you dont get a single copy of any Kannada/Tulu papers or magazine, only Malalayam or tamil, its very very shamefull, nowadays, a place where we grew up is diminishing its identity, ONAM is the main festival celebrated in some private institutions etc, and our politicians are not bothered, or they are busy sponosoring all unwanted groups, communal rift, etc on the rise, better to dig a hole and place our nose

The railways could have extended the train beyond Bangalore i.e upto Thirupathi or Kolar or Hosur instead of extending from Mangalore to Kannur. The elected representative and the people are responsible for the irresponsible extension of the train by the railways.

Managlore railway station has already been keralised. Mangalore airport is on the verge of it. Trains and Flights from/to Managalore would ultimately be serving for the benefit of Keralites. So scare is that Mangaloreans are losing Managalore gradually in terms of infrastructure. We need to do something

UPA is intentionally trying to damage the political system in our state. Anyway, it has presently got good political mileage in Kerala, than Karnataka, & so is trying to encash politically. Also in future, they train may be furthur extended from Kannur to deep Kerala in political interest of centre. Moreover, the extention is a set back for Mangloreans, as the train is bound to be rush always, & so will not be helpufull for us. Manipulations by Bus lobby with centre cannot be ruled out. Cheap Politics by UPA.....

Save our own son of soil George Fernandes, all other past Kannadiga Railway Ministers viz., Dasappa a Coorgi, Hanumanthayya - erstwhile Mysorean, T.A.Pai our own dignitary all were worthless during their tenures as Rly.Ministers. Also the present Muniappa and previous Suresh Kalmady {Asst.rly.ministers}were also broadminded but detrimental to the insterests of Kannadigas.
