Bengaluru: Lockdown extension - SSLC, PU examinations may be postponed

Bengaluru, Apr 15: As lockdown has now been extended, it is likely to have an effect on conducting PU English examination and SSLC examination.

The education department had decided to announce examination dates after April 14. The department said that these examinations are likely to be delayed further. Education minister S Suresh Kumar, said that he will personally announce decision about these two examinations once the lockdown period ends. He asked the students and their parents not to unnecessarily undergo any stress relating to the examinations.

He clarified that dates for these examinations cannot be announced now as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has extended lockdown period till May 3. He also clarified that the department of public instruction has not undertaken any measure to conduct online classes for SSLC students so far.

    Examination for 2nd PUC on one subject English should be conducted on 23rd April2020 as scheduled in March 2020 and for SSLC as scheduled in the previous month. Further delay will trouble students to prepare for CET, JEE and NEET examinations which are already postponed. PUE and SSLC board can use KSRTC buses to Carry the children to the examination centres. Guidelines meant for COVID 19 should be strictly complied during the period.

    The honourable minister is giving clarity about probable date of examinations. By explaining this, he is not at all giving any headache or tension to the students or parents. I am one of the parents. Secondly many readers are of the opinion that the examination is to be cancelled and all are to be promoted. How it is possible, when there is competitive exams like CET and JEE etc. And how students are to be given admission to the various colleges, in what criteria. We can't talk, just for the sake of time pass. System should be followed, even if it is delayed.

    Dear sir, why are you behind students saying exam, exam and exam? Is it so important in the prevailing situation? Even if you conduct also, many will not go risking the lives of their beloved children. Life is more important than these so called exams? Students didn't create virus. Why to punish them creating panic, depression and exhaustion. Promote everyone this year.. Let all students get promoted. Next year there will be exams for them in the next academic year... It's really disgusting when whole world has shut down, speaking about exams...

    I really dont understand why are you even behind these students life. Do you even understand how they feel when they get to hear the news that lockdown is being extended. Could you please explain what is wrong in cancelling the exams? And promoting students based on their formative marks? Anyways they have to face their future exams in their classes. At a time when COVID is rapidly rising, you are just creating more fear and depression in the lives of students. Please dont do this.

    I dont think it's a wise decision ..... tenth and twelfth examination would have completed as the karnataka is less effected fir this virus....
    All school colleges would have arranged special buses to and fro to examination centres .. and exams would have completed March itself.....
    World knows it's a fast spreading virus ..... after spreading the virus in all places and conducting exams is bad idea....
    This virus wont refuse next 6 or one year...its spreading like rocket...
    Now also you can conduct exams..... by selecting neatest centres or in their own schools.....

    Sir best option available now is make all pass for class 12 and class 10 students because experts are expecting corona to slowly go down by June next accadamic year will start only by August donot cancel English exam better is cancel all the exam which they wrote also because taking pre-board marks won't be right as some might have been absent or some would have not performed well it will affect many students life. Concentrate on keeping entrance exams after this corona for engineering etc degree people much is not seen anyway

    Mr. Minister, are you telling the students and their parents not to take stress!?. Imagine by stepping into their shoes!. In the present circumstances it is recommended to cancel the exams for good and relieve the students / parents of unnecessary torture. Thank you.

    Pre-boards exam has taken place for PU as well as SSLC. Its wise to consider that result and declare them as final evaluation marks.

    Just because of one exam (Eng), correction process of all remaining subjects of PU is held up.

    Don't drive the students more further into frustration who are as it is locked up in their houses, can't even enjoy their holidays.

    Sir if English exam is done also correction cannot be done as many people have to gather and it's lockdown donot take preparatory marks also because many students neglect preparatory exams and have not performed well in it better is put average marks for all students and give all pass for all the students on all subjects anyway nowhere they will see 2nd puc marks only competitive exams are important

    New York City I think has closed all educational institutions for this academic year.
    Everything online.....
    Scary Scenario.
    I think it is not prudent to put very young lives in danger till this entire thing is in control.
    I think these Statements by Education Departments should stop.
    This causes un necessary tension in students and parents alike.
    A firm decision has to be taken here too ...by giving a definite gap for Educational Institutions to open...Say after September or Dasara Holidays...
    Who will take the risk now ?

    Planning is the last word in some dictionaries of our ruling govt.
    They could'v postponed the lock down by a day & gotten over PU exams, without anticipating lock down could extend beyond a few days they announced is now causing more tension to students & parents unnecessarily

    I think it is better to take average Mark's in the class test pertaining to this year performance, better to give Mark's on that basis.
