Panaji: 5 suspected COVID-19 patients admitted in isolation ward

Panaji, Apr 15: In a medical bulletin issued on Tuesday by the Goa directorate of health services, five people who showed symptoms of COVID-19 were admitted in an isolation ward.

As per the bulletin, 47 test reports were negative for the virus and the reports of four people are awaited.

Currently, Goa has two active cases, while five have been successfully treated and were placed under quarantine at a resort in Candolim.

The bulletin stated that 24 travellers have been quarantined for 28 days as per the list released by the central government.

GMC dean Dr S M Bandekar said the system has been put in place in the premier hospital to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Even junior doctors of GMC have been trained to take swab samples, he said. Dr Dilip Hinge of the National Institute of Virology, Pune had been disputed to train technicians and doctors. He will remain posted in GMC till April 21.
