DC Jagadeesha apologises to stranded Udupians for not allowing them to return

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (JD)

Udupi, Apr 16: Udupi district deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha, has apologized to Udupians staying in Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru for not allowing them to enter their home district.

In a video message, the officer said, "I can understand your sufferings. But due to the central government lockdown rules we are helpless as far as allowing you people or any of the other Udupians to enter the district. Many MLAs and other politicians have also urged me to make some arrangements to bring you people back. But due to lockdown we are also helpless. I request all the fellow Udupians staying in these places to remain there for the present. After the lifting of lockdown you can return to your district without any problems," he added.

A lot of people of Udupi are living in Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru for work and many other reasons. Even though some were able to return to Udupi many are stranded in different places. It is learnt that in certain cases, some of the paying guest owners have asked them to vacate their paying guest accommodations as coronavirus infection has been spreading in these places.

Kindly collect data those who are in trouble and stranded in different places. Help them financially and morally or allow them to get Minimum advance money from the bank like overdraft facilities. It can be linked to adhar card and mobile number so that they can repay later.

Please have tested centre ready for them when they return. Two days for test results is an eternity when it comes to contact tracing.

DC Jagadeesha has no option in this case but to just apologize . There was no point to allow the stranded Udupians to return. Covid-19 is the reason for all this and this is a deadly disease and it is not advisable for anybody to move from one place to the other. Now with this recent order by health department people cannot move about without a mask.

Thanks for all the effort you have done in lockdown and also thanks to the supreme leader in Delhi for allowing international flights even knowing about the high risk and taking credit for lockdown. Now Pakis entering India border is easier than Indians moving across districts.
