Panaji, Apr 20: Konkani Bhasha Mandal (KBM), Goa in collaboration with Shabdkosh.com has started an online Konkani dictionary. The dictionary offers a collection of 25,000 words in English to Konkani dictionary. The vocabulary database will be updated regularly. The dictionary is available on the website as well as the app of Shabdkosh.com free of cost.
Shabdkosh.com, a website originally conceptualised, designed and implemented by Maneesh Soni, has a unique collection of Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, Bengali, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam dictionaries. Now, Konkani language is also available on this platform. Its services are used by over 10 million people around the world every month.
The president of the Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Chetan Acharya thanked Shabdkosh.com for accepting the proposal of KBM and making this dream come true. He also appreciated the efforts of students of the Department of Konkani, Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce and translators associated with the Konkani Bhasha Mandal to make this online dictionary a reality.
Acharya further added that now Konkani words will be easily accessible to the students, translators and others across the world with the help of this website and app. The KBM with the help of Shabdkosh.com, further intends to incorporate Konkani-Konkani dictionary, English to Konkani sentences and Konkani quotes in a phased manner.
