Byndoor, Apr 22: A car which came from Telangana was taken into custody by the Kollur police on Tuesday. The police have registered case against the seven occupants of the car.

It is said that some occupants of the car are the family members of a person from Ulthoor who runs a business in Telangana. The family had come here along with some friends to take part in the funeral of the entrepreneur's father who breathed his last recently.

The police said that the people in the car, by moving together, had posed threat to the lives of the people. Not maintaining social distance can result in spread of infectious diseases, they said. Kollur station house officer Mahadev Bhosle, under the leadership of Byndoor circle inspector and assistant superintendent of police Hariram Shankar, handed over the people in the car for quarantine with the help of health workers.

The car which started its journey from Mahbubnagar district in Telangana had passed through Raichur, Gangavathi, Davanagere and Shivamogga districts before entering Udupi district. The car was taken over by the police at the Dali check post at Kollur. The police said that the occupants of the car cannot be allowed to move further as they hail from Telangana, considered to be a corona hotspot.

Those inside the car have been quarantined with police security in a house near Chittur here till May 18.
