'Was being talked about during WC that a team could score 500'

London, Apr 23 (IANS): England stalwarts James Anderson and Stuart Broad spoke about the possibility of teams breaching the 500-run mark in ODIs in near future. Broad joined Anderson for a live chat session on Instagram as players looked to keep themselves entertained amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Anderson asked Broad about the batsmen he fears bowling to and the speedster stated there are many around the world. He then spoke about the 'never-ending' white-ball batting line-up of England, which he feels is responsible for sleepless nights for many bowlers around the world.

"To be honest the England white-ball team... bowlers around the world would fear them. Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow start off. You get one of them and then Joe Root comes out. Then there is Eoin Morgan, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali. It's like never-ending," Broad said.

"From the time when we started and now there have always been great players. But since T20 has developed, I don't think there are just one of two players in a team who can do the damage. There are seven or eight now. It doesn't sound outrageous these days that a 50-over side can score 500."

Anderson agreed with Broad and stated while it may sound ludicrous but it remains a possibility considering the way batsmen bat these day, owing to T20 cricket.

"It was being talked about during the World Cup that a team could score 500. It's absolutely ludicrous but probably not beyond the realms of possibility," Anderson said.
