Bahrain, Dec 25: Bunts Bahrain under the able leadership of president Pradeep Kumar Shetty, got together at the Intercontinental Regency Hotel to celebrate nine years of togetherness in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The event began with welcoming the guests by master of ceremony Naveen Shetty and Prafulla Subashchandra Shetty in a traditional style “Poornakumbha Swagatha” accompanied by playing of chende.
Sunil Shetty, entertainment secretary also welcomed the gathering and the annual get-together celebrations began the cultural programme with a prayer song followed by semi-classical dance.
The members of the community especially kids performed various dances for Kannada, Tulu and Sanskrit songs. Skits and orchestra too was part of the event.
Former minister K Jayaprakash Hegde, Karnataka government and Dr S Ramananda Shetty, vice-chancellor of Rajeev Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka were the two guest of honours, who had flown in all the way from India to witness the event. Ajay Kumar, first secretary and head of chancery was the chief guest. Platinum sponsors, Shantharam Shetty, group general manager of Ramee Group of Hotels and H Sudhakar Shetty, managing director of AlFahad Manpower Services were present.
President Pradeep Kumar Shetty delivered presidential address. He announced that the executive committee collected Rs 4 lac for the charity and donated it to Rajesh Shetty, who worked at Gulf gate hotel and was need of kidney transplantation.
General secretary Arun Shetty anchored the stage programme and read the annual report. President Pradeep Shetty honoured the guests of honour and the platinum sponsors. He also acknowledged the presence of Dr Prashanth Shetty, principal of Sri Dharmastala Manjunatheswara College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences and honoured him.
Former minister K Jayaprakash Hegde honoured the main sponsors of this event and all the previous events of 2009. Dr Shetty honoured the co-sponsors and the sponsors.
Joint secretary Praveen Shetty Shiroor delivered the vote of thanks.
