There will be trash talking: Woods on charity match vs NFL greats

Florida, Apr 27 (IANS): 15-time major champion Tiger Woods has suggested that there will be trash talking between the players but within limits when they take to the field for a charity match.

Woods is set to join forces with another golf great Phil Mickelson against NFL superstars Peyton Manning and Tom Brady with the proceeds going towards country's fight against COVID-19.

Over 2.9 million people have been infected by the virus while in excess of 2 lakh individuals have lost their lives worldwide.

"It's going to be Peyton and I against Tom and Phil," Woods told Golf Digest.

"There has been a little bit of trash talking already, a little bit of banter back and forth. It'll be like that when we compete but it won't be as rough as what we have in our text exchange.

"We haven't decided exactly what charities we're going to be donating all the money to. We're going to be divvying it out to a lot of different causes that have had the impact for this virus and that type of relief," he added.

Like almost every other sport in the world, the golf season also remains suspended as a precautionary measure to curb the spread of coronavirus.

There has been no golf since March 12 -- first round of The Players Championship -- so the charity game between such high profile players will be music to fans' ears.
