Consider MCD workers too as corona warriors, Tiwari tells Kejriwal

New Delhi, Apr 28 (IANS): The Delhi BJP on Tuesday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for playing petty politics and not including MC employees among novel coronavirus warriors. The party demanded that such staff should also be considered as corona warriors.

In a tweet, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari said: "During the Covid-19 pandemic such petty politics does not looks good. We condemn it. Arvind Kejriwalji, you have not included the MCD employees in the list of Covid-19 warriors just because the MCDs are governed by the BJP. Chief Minister sir, include them in the list of Covid-19 warriors immediately."

He also attached Delhi government orders dated April 15, which included doctors, paramedics, police personnel, sanitization and security personnel among those fighting the coronavirus on the frontline.

The order said that if any employee died of coronavirus while performing duty the next of kin would be paid an ex gratia of Rs one crore by the Delhi government.

Delhi has three municipal bodies and all are governed by the BJP.

On Tuesday, the total coronavirus cases in Delhi rose to 3,108, with 54 deaths.
