Panaji, Apr 29 (IANS): Sixty stranded seafarers who were onboard cruise ship Marella Discovery reached Goa from Mumbai late on Tuesday and have been quarantined to a city hotel in Panaji for 14 days.
The sixty seafarers had disembarked off the cruise ship in Mumbai last week and had subsequently tested negative for Covid-19.
"There were sixty six seafarers in all. Sixty arrived in Goa by two separate buses late on Tuesday night. The six others, who have also tested negative will be joining the rest soon," a government spokesperson said.
All the sixty seafarers have been quarantined in a budget hotel in Panaji's Patto area, where they are expected to spend 14 days in quarantine.
There are around 120 more seafarers of Goan origin, who are stranded in Mumbai and who would be ferried to Goa in the coming days, after their coronavirus tests are carried out by the authorities in Maharashtra.
The 120 odd seafarers were employed onboard two other cruise vessels Karnika and Angria.
