Bantwal: Carmel College organizes online awareness programme on COVID-19

Bantwal, Apr 30: Carmel College Modankap, here, in collaboration with Mangalore University on April 20 organised an online awareness programme for NSS volunteers on 'COVID-19 And The Current Challenges'.

Lion Srinivas Poojary, president Lions Club Bantwal, inaugurated the programme and addressed the volunteers on COVID-19 and also offered help from Lions Club Bantwal to the needy people around and informed volunteers to contact him if any people around them were in need of any help.

Dr Poornima Jogi, NSS implementation officer, in her keynote address enlightened the participants about the need of COVID-19 awareness programmes for the youth and also highlighted on how to protect themselves and others from the virus by taking suitable precautions.

Resource person Devi Prasad, nodal officer DK, COVID-19, and NSS PO, GFGC Siddakatte highlighted the institution's services to the nation and to the common people around. In his address he also mentioned about the importance of basic precautions to be taken and the importance of creating awareness among people we come in contact with.

Another resource person Dr Pradeep Senapathi, associate professor, department of community medicine, AJIMS RC, Mangaluru, addressed about COVID-19 and gave detailed information about the symptoms and the precautions to be taken. He also clarified the doubts of the volunteers and  highlighted the topic of fake messages, its impact on society and how to combat it.

The principal, Dr Sr Latha Fernandez AC in her presidential remark highlighted spreading awareness to the common people to fight against the coronavirus.

Madhura K, NSS Programme officer, Carmel College Modankap, hosted this programme. 61 volunteers were benefited from this online awareness programme.
