Mangalore, Jan 2: Leader of the emerging young brigade of the BJP, fiery Hindutva protagonist and MP, Varun Gandhi, will take part in the Mega Hindu Youth Convention being organized in the city by Bajrang Dal on January 24.
General secretary of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations Committee of Bajrang Dal, Krishnamurty, gave this information at a press conference held in the city on Friday January 1. He said the convention is being held on the occasion of the silver jubilee celebrations of Bajrang Dal, which was set up in the year 1984, backed by the aims of service, refinement and security, and has completed 25 years of existence.
He said, Bajrang Dal has been providing homes to the poor people, reimbursing educational expenses of the needy, organizing blood donation camps, etc., besides contributing to obliterating the difference between the haves and have-nots by supporting inter-caste marriages. He said that the Dal, which has been spearheading programmes aimed at protecting cows, stopping religious conversions and Love Jihad, besides protecting the sanctity of temples, has planned the proposed convention with a view to rekindle patriotism among the youngsters.
The local unit of Bajrang Dal appears to have got a shot in the arm at a time when it is preparing to hold the silver jubilee programme, with the return of its former leader, Pravin Walke, into its folds. Walke, who had left the organization before becoming an activist of Srirama Sene for a small stint, had later remained neutral for some time. On his return, the Dal has given him the post of the vice-president in the Siler Jubilee Celebrations Committee.
Sharan Pumpwell, Dr Bharat Shetty, M B Puranik and Vinay L Shetty were present at the press conference.
