Kundapur: Dr Shantaram Chosen to Lead Akhil Bharatiya Konkani Parishad Convention

Kundapur, Jan 2: Educationist and administrative officer of the Academy of General Education Manipal, Dr Shantaram, has been elected as the new president of Akhil Bharatiya Konkani Parishad.

He will chair the 27th convention of the Parishad, set to be held during the month of February this year, at Goa. Dr Shantaram, who has been deeply involved since the last four decades in educational, literary and cultural fields, has served Konkani language and literature in many ways.

He is backed by the experience of having worked for five years as a member of Konkani Literary Advisory Committee of the Central Sahitya Akademi. As the director of Dr T M A Pai Foundation Manipal, he had got involved with several projects, which had aimed at providing impetus to the growth of Konkani language,.

He had successfully organized the Sahitya Sammelan held in Kundapur during February 2009 under the aegis of Jai Konkani organization, by working as the honorary president of the reception committee of the Sammelan. The said organization had recommended his name for the presidentship of the annual convention of the Parishad.

    Dr. Shantharam had given lot for the education since last decades and also contributed for the konkani community. I am one of his best fan since so many years. congragulation sir.
