Al-Khobar, Jan 5: The RADICON cricket team won the first Inter General Engineering Services (GES) Contractor’s Cricket Association Cup 2009, held here recently.

The final match was played between RADICON and AMCDE at SWICC ground.  RADICON won the toss and captain Niyaz Ahmed elected to bat first. The team scored 114/5 in the allotted 15 overs.
AMCDE had a disastrous start to their batting when they lost their first 3 wickets for just 13 runs, at the end of the 3rd over of the innings. The innings finally showed some progress when Noor and Adnan provided a much needed partnership for the fourth wicket by scoring 50 runs in 8 overs.

The team eventually scored 73 for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 15 overs.

The teams in the tournament were divided into two groups.  In one of the semi-finals RADICON beat SOFCON and the other saw AMCDE beating Jacobs ZATE to enter the finals.

In the tournament, a total of 7 GES teams participated—Bechtel, AMCDE, SOFCON, RADICON, PI-Consult, Zuhair Fayez, and Jacobs ZATE.

The finals saw senior officials of both RADICON and AMCDE attending the event. Among the attendees were RADICON general manager Al-Mahdi Kurdieh, business development manager Hani Al-Hashim, deputy engineering manager Mohammed Fayazuddin, design manger Syed Khalid, chief accountant Uchila Abdul Munaff and AMCDE executive director Abdul Latif Abdul Hadi, were present along with other staff.

Jaffer Ali presided over the award ceremony.  Hassan Ali Saleh was the chief guest who presented prizes to the winners.

RADICON has been recognized as one of the growing cricket teams in the eastern province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Niyaz Ahmed of RADICON was adjudged ‘Man of the Match’.  Abdul Waheed of RADICON was adjudged ‘Best Batsman’ of the tournament and Ishtiyquddin of RADOCON was adjudged ‘Best Bowler’.
