Panaji, May 5: Goa Health Department on Friday issued a show cause-notice to the head of the Radiology department of Goa Medical College and Hospital near here for the delay in attending to former Congress MLA Jitendra Deshprabhu, who passed away last month.
Under secretary (health) Trupti Manerkar, in an order issued, asked Dr Jeevan Vernekar, head of the Radiology department, Goa Medical College and Hospital to show-cause why action should not be initiated against him for negligence on the part of his department.
The order reads that at the time of admission of former member of Goa Legislative Assembly, Jitendra Deshprabhu in GMCH, who passed away on April 21, there was delay in conducting his CT scan.
“It is informed that when CMO who accompanied late Deshprabhu to the Radiology Department of GMCH, that neither the junior doctor nor the senior resident doctor were present there to do the CT scan, and the patient had to wait for 35 minutes,” Manerkar said in the order.
The order has asked Vernekar to show-cause within seven days why action should not be taken against him for such negligence on the part of this department.
