Yogi deploys senior officials at Kanpur, Agra & Meerut


Lucknow, May 10 (IANS): UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed sending of high-level teams of medical experts and officials to Kanpur, Agra and Meerut that have emerged as coronavirus hotspots.

Addressing a meeting of Team 11 officials, here on Sunday, the Chief Minister said enough PPE kits should be sent to the affected districts. Covid-19 cases are on the rise in these districts despite efforts to contain it.

The Chief Minister asked senior IAS officials -- Alok Kumar and Rajnish Dubey -- to camp in Agra along with a senior doctor from the Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences and a senior police official.

Similarly, senior IAS officer T Venkatesh will camp in Meerut with medical experts and police officials.

The Chief Minister said the lockdown should be enforced strictly and all inter-state and the UP-Nepal border should remain sealed.

"Migrant workers should not be allowed to move on foot. We are arranging trains and buses for them. All community kitchens should be properly sanitized and the quality of food should be regularly checked," he said.

The medical screening of those working in the community kitchens should be done everyday, he added.
