George Fernandes in Hospital with Neurological Problem


New Delhi, Jan 9 (IANS) Veteran politician George Fernandes was Saturday being treated for s neurological problem at a private hospital here. He was admitted to the hospital Friday forenoon, the hospital said.

In a medical bulletin, the Max Hospital in Saket said he is undergoing treatment for his "underlying neurological problem". His condition is, however, stable.

"There is nothing to worry about. He is stable. He will be discharged as soon as his condition improves," a hospital spokesperson told IANS.

A veteran parliamentarian, the 80-year-old Fernandes, who served as defence minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, contested the Lok Sabha election in 2009 as an independent candidate from Muzzaffarpur in Bihar but lost. His Janata Dal-United later give him a Rajya Sabha ticket.
