150 migrants leave Delhi for Punjab in buses


New Delhi, May 10 (IANS): After two trains carrying migrants left the city for Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, as many as 150 stranded people left for Punjab in buses arranged by the Delhi government on Sunday, according to a state government statement.

"The Delhi government is taking steps to send the stranded migrants to their native states," the office of the Chief Minister said.

The migrants from Punjab were living in temporary shelter at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Nehru Vihar. "They were screened by the medical team and provided with food, masks and sanitizer," it said.

Last week, the Delhi government had sent around 1,050 and 1,200 migrants to their hometowns in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, respectively, through special trains.
