Dubai, Jan 10: Tulu play, “Yelle Yaan Kaasdaye” (I would be rich tomorrow), was staged in the Emirates English Speaking School auditorium at Al Safa here on Friday 8, at 6.30 pm.

Being playwright Sanjeeva S K’s maiden show in the Gulf, this play had a star-studded cast of well-established artistes from Mangalore, like Aravind Bolar, Sai Krishna, Bantwal Jayaram Achar, Santhosh Shetty, Pradeep Alva, Nagesh Dambel, Shashi Hejmadi, Sudhir, Vineeth Kumar, Arun Alva, Shobha Rai and Chaitra.

The story revolves around a family and the family head, who dreams of getting rich. He spends most of his earnings in buying lottery tickets looking for an instant big money. Arvind Bolar’s performance was top class and Bantwal Jayaram Achar was a treat to watch as always. Shobha Rai in the role of house wife and Vineet Kumar, a young budding actor playing the role of Arvind and Shobha Rai’s son were the others who performed brilliantly. Others too chipped in with credible performances and gave the crowd a plenty to cheer about.

A quality show without a doubt was complete with superb sound and lights by Prasad Rai (Kavoor Electricals). Sarvotham Shetty (president-Abudhabi Karnataka Sangha), James Mendonca (Reliable Fabricators), Ashok Rai (G M Federal Insurance), C R Shetty (convenor-UAE Tulu Koota), Michael D’ Souza (Oasis Court), Sanjeeva K S.(Kalaa Shilpa, Mangalore) and Sathish Shetty (Sams Electro Mechanicals) lit the traditional lamp to start the proceeding. Sarvotham Shetty honoured Sanjeeva K S, Sathish Shetty honoured Sai Krishna and C R Shetty honoured visiting artistes by presenting special mementoes.  The auditorium was jam-packed and the audience deeply appreciated the brilliant performance of the artistes with good round of applause.

The programme organized by Sathish Shetty of Sam Electro Mechanical received a huge appreciation. Shantharam Achar was the compere for the evening.

This is the first Tulu play i watched and realised what i have been missing all these years. it was too good. I remember having the same effect after watching Mungaru Male & then on i watched a string of good kannada movies like Mussanje Maathu, Milana etc. "Yelle yaan kaasdaye" kept the audience enthralled continously for 2&1/2 hours without any boring moment. Superb performance. These talented artistes can easily be film personalities if given an ooportunity. I am looking forward to the next tulu drama to be staged in dubai.
